I have decided to write a blog post once a month on my favourite buys for that month. We’re only half way through August at the moment but I have gone on a little splurge this month after receiving my tax rebate and FINALLY paying off my debts I’ve been owing. I’ve had a tough time of it recently and shopping always cheers me up so I decided to treat myself to a few things I’ve been after for a while…

I had my haircut a few weeks back and I decided I wanted to be a little daring and go for a summer cut. So off I went to Thompson Style, Chorley where I was treated to a beautiful colour and cut. I ended up having around 3 inches cut off and a few layers put in. I left the salon with my hair feeling healthy and bouncy. My hair stylist Amy had also1740-480895-TG_P_C_SSTS_300x300_00 beautifully styled my hair in soft waves. I loved it! A few days later I realised that I had difficulty styling my hair because It was a lot shorter than usual. I know YouTube has a lot of videos on how to style all types of hair so I decided to take a look and see what I could try. I came across a video created my blogger Zoella on different products and ideas you can use to style your hair quickly. —>(Link to Video)<— I fell in love with the Sea Salt hairstyle she created. It instantly made her hair look beach beautiful with hardly any effort. I HAD TO GET THIS SPRAY! Off I went on my travels in search of the Toni & Guy Casual Sea Salt Spray and I eventually found it at Tesco. Tesco currently have it on offer at the moment. You can buy three hair care products and get the cheapest item FREE! It really does create that beach look and It smells divine!

Screen Shot 2015-08-19 at 19.33.31I went to the Trafford Centre a few days later with my mum and sister for a girly shopping day. For the last few months I’d been after a ‘Go with anything’ coat. I ALWAYS buy black so I’d been after a grey coat that was cut just about the knee. I’ve seen people in the magazines wearing the same style I was after so I knew what I was looking for. I decided to take a look in Topshop and after a few minutes I found the coat! A boyfriend styled, tailored grey coat. It’s so soft and warm that I know it’s going to be great to wear for the coming winter months. It costs £59.00 and Is still available in store and online. It also comes in 2 other colours, black and beige. I used to be bad at parting with money but I can justify spending this much on a coat because I know I will get my wear out of it over winter…maybe next winter too!

71e7tgu5XvL._SL1299_My next purchase is probably my favourite. For months now I’ve been saying to myself “When I get paid I will buy myself some Jimmy Choo Perfume” and every time I’ve been paid I never do. I can’t justify spending £60 on perfume so I usually wait until there’s some sort of offer on. I popped into Bodycare in Chorley to buy some hairspray when I saw the exact same perfume I wanted sitting there on the shelf behind the desk. To my surprise It was £39.99 for a 60ml bottle which is a whole £20 cheaper from what the other stores had told me, so I decided if I didn’t buy it there and then then I never would. I am just obsessed with the smell. I find wearing the right perfume can make you feel a whole lot better and more upbeat. It definitely brightened up my Monday morning!

I’m a big reader and I love nothing more than to get lost in a good novel. I favour more romance stories so I’m always on the lookout f518dz41hIQL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_or my next read. When I was at the Trafford Centre I decided to take a look in Waterstones for anything that took my fancy. I came across Giovanna Fletcher‘s novel ‘Billy and me’. It is about a girl called Sophie May and how she falls for an actor named Billy Buskin who is filming an adaption of Pride and Prejudice in the small village where she lives. Between village gossip and the press printing rubbish daily they try to make it work. She is thrown into his ‘World’ and tries to adapt to her new-found fame. I haven’t yet read the entire book yet but I’m working on it. In between work and updating the blog I’ll try to fit in a little bit of reading too. If ‘Ordinary girl meets Celebrity and falls in love’ type books are your thing then I’d say definitely give it a read!

Rimmel-Wake-Me-Up-Mascara-packshot-brush-and-cucumber-AED49-663x1024-663x1024My final favourite buy of August has got to be my new Wonder’full Wake Me Up Mascara that I bought from Superdrug for £5.99 at promotional price, usually £7.99. I tend to drain every last use out of the Mascara’s I have so buying a new Mascara is always exciting because I have beautiful, fuller looking lashes again. The Mascara I did buy happened to be on Promotional offer at Superdrug at the time. It’s a brand new product from Rimmel which uses Kate Moss as the promotional model. Looking like her usual flawless self. Damn you Moss! Anyway, It is a cucumber-fresh, vitamin-charged product that gives lashes a eye-awakening, volume lift and length. I’m not going to even try to deny how good it actually is. My lashes appear longer and more noticeable. Does the cucumber fresh statement mean it smells of cucumber? Yes! It actually does! Plus when I’m wiping my make-up off at night it is easy to wipe away and leaves no black marks sneaking onto your pillow at night. I’ll definitely be buying it again!

So there you go. My favourite August buys of 2015. If you would like anymore information on any of the products above then leave your questions in the comments box and I’ll get back to you. Or why not tell me your favourite August buys?

Sincerely, Sophie x
