Happy New Year! How are we all feeling? A little down at the thought of going back to work, sad that the festive season has officially ended or excited for the year ahead? Luckily, I’m the latter. I’m so excited for the year ahead! I don’t have any major plans as of yet, but I have dreams and ambitions, as well as a fresh new perspective on life! I’m so ready for 2016!

Considering it’s only the 5th January, which means we’ve only been in the year 2016 for five days, I have already done and organised a few exciting things! I can’t wait to share them with you all within the coming weeks!! Stay tuned…

On Saturday, I decided to go into Manchester with one of my best friends and spend the day with her, her daughter Holly and Holly’s best friend Courtney. I know, shopping with two 11 year olds might not be everyone’s idea of fun, but I actually had a really good day!

We decided to visit the People’s History Museum in Spinningfields, peoples-history-museum-logoManchester. Now personally, I enjoy visiting museums and learning lots of different things, so trips to the museum are always enjoyable for me. Plus, a trip to a museum was also on my 365 list, so that’s something else I have managed to tick off. We spent a good few hours looking round, learning and messing around with the old style kitchen and jukebox that was situated in Gallery 2, on the 2nd floor.

We then decided to stay for a drink in The Left Bank Cafe Bar. I opted for a Fentimans, vintage looking, Dandelion and Burdock. A drink I haven’t had since the age of 9, when I used to sit in my neighbours back garden on a sunny day and drink nothing but that! I miss those days…

Anyway, If you are planning on visiting somewhere educational and FREE!!!, Then I’d definitely recommend visiting the People’s History Museum. It’s a great place for both adults and children and it’s situated, near enough, in the centre of Manchester!

We then headed over to the Manchester Arndale, where we spent the next hour or two looking around the 12493658_1542772286041439_8549729989295995854_odifferent shops and taking the girls to the Lego and Disney stores. We decided to end the day at Chiquitos!! One of my new favourite restaurants I might add. The girls were given Sombreros and mustache stickers to wear, as well as kids Mocktails, which they adored! I ordered the Spicy Chicken Burritos with a side order of Chips and it was delish! I wasn’t going to order a dessert at first, but as Steff and the girls were I didn’t want to feel left out, so I ordered the Lemon Drizzle Cake. It was gorgeous! Steff decided to order the Churros (delicious looking dough sticks covered in cinnamon sugar, served with fresh strawberries and a pot of chocolate sauce), and if I hadn’t felt so full and fit to burst then I would have definitely tried one. Maybe next time?! And may I just take this chance to say a mahoosive Thank you to Steff! (She knows why!)

So, that’s how I spent my Saturday. A lovely, much-needed day out with one of my closest friends and two well-behaved young ladies. Sometimes, it’s the simplest things in life that are the most fun.

Sincerely, Sophie
